My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our newest English Mastiff boy! This is Cormac, and he is approximately 2 ½ years old. He was surrendered to the shelter by his owner because he was no longer able to keep him. When we pulled him out of the shelter, he was not fixed, so we suspect that we will see more of his true personality once his body has had time to adjust to being neutered. For unknown reasons, he is nervous and fearful when approached by men, so he needs to be introduced to them slowly. He tends to favor women and feels the need to protect them by constantly being by their side and within their line of sight. Cormac loves children of all ages and is very good with them. He wants to be around people ALL the time, but he is perfectly happy to just be snoozing on the floor or a couch near you.

Cormac gets along great with his medium and large dog foster siblings, but he seems to be very interested in the guinea fowl that lives on the farm. For this reason, he probably will not do well in a home with cats. He loves chew toys- like Kongs but does not seem to care for soft toys or hard bones. Although he looks full grown, he still has the mentality of a puppy and need consistent training and discipline. Cormac knows sit and is working on the stay and down commands. He is learning about how to walk correctly on a leash, but it is hard for him to contain his excitement and energy for now. He is completely housebroken and working on being properly crate trained. He is heart worm positive, will need to continue his heart worm treatment in his new home at no extra cost to his family. If you are interested in Cormac or any of our other dogs, please feel free to email us at: info@bullpenrescue.org. Our Adoption Application can be found on our website under the ‘work with us’ tab.

We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
