MEET Ginger-
This gorgeous little bundle of energy is so new to us, she doesn't even yet have a name. Brand new to the ODR, Inc. Puppy Brigade, this gorgeous 18 week old, smooth Red female is just 5 lbs and a bundle of joy! If you have ever dreamed of adding a beautiful Doxie princess puppy to your family, this little girl could be the one.
She will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds and carry out her puppy training so our little darling can achieve ALL her Doxie potential. She does suffer from an over-bite and will need surgery at some point in the future, but we're confident that her love and the light she brings to your life will more than compensate. Also, since she is so young, her forever family will also need to sign an agreement to have her spayed at 5.5 months.
Like all Dachshunds, our Ginger is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, she needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
