My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ZELENA is a young Pointer mix female who was dumped in a ditch near a fire station in SW KY last fall when she was a puppy. A nearby family fed her and she slept on their porch. That family contacted the rescue for help in finding her a permanent home. She is now in a foster home and her foster says that she has shown no aggression. She is adjusting to wearing a collar and is learning to be on a leash since it appears these things are all new to her. She was treated for fleas and ticks. Some ticks were imbedded under her skin so those had to be surgically removed when she had her spay surgery. She has been vaccinated and tested negative for heartworm, tick borne illnesses and intestinal parasites. Retesting in 6 months (Nov Dec 2017) is recommended to be sure. She is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. The vet estimates she is 18 months old and she weighs 47 pounds. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Zelena if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer rescue to cover at least part of the cost of the veterinary care this dog has received.
