Hello, I’m Blizzard and I would love to have a forever home with you! I bond very quickly and respond to my name very well. I already follow foster mom and am gaining confidence super quickly and have only been here a couple of days! I may be 12 years old, but I have lots of spring in my step and can keep up on excursions. I travel very well in a vehicle. I am good with dogs; however I would strongly prefer dogs that are not always in your face and high energy. I’d like to slow down a bit in my doggie companions at this time in my life. I need to meet my new brother/sister prior to going home with them just to make sure we can co-mingle.

I have not been introduced to cats or children but I am not to be near small animals as I think they are snacks. So far I have not had any handling issues that would prevent me from being good with older children. I do jump up once in awhile in excitement though. I have lived outdoors my whole life, so I will need someone patient to teach me about indoor life or an indoor-outdoor home. I am not house trained but I am crate trained. I am a very good learner when snacks are involved! I am microchipped and will be adopted on a strict non-breeding contract due to my age. I am located in Tweed, ON and in lieu of an adoption fee, a donation towards is greatly appreciated.

Located in Tweed, ON – donation-based adoption fee
In foster – needs foster or adopter
Looking for a home since May 2017

About S.H.A.R.P. Siberian Husky Assistance and Rescue Program

About Our Rescue Group...

S.H.A.R.P. Awareness

The Siberian Husky Assistance and Rescue Program (S.H.A.R.P.) is an organization dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of Siberian Huskies. By working with animal shelters, rescue groups, dog owners and the general public, our goals are:

To offer advice to owners about the proper care and ownership of Siberian Huskies
To provide education and information about the Siberian Husky breed
To assist with the rescue of Siberian Huskies

Advice. The membership of S.H.A.R.P. consists of owners and breeders of Siberian Huskies. Our members have a wealth of knowledge about the behavior, training and care needed for the breed. We are eager to offer our experience to help others enjoy the company of their pet. In addition, we have access to a wide variety of information and expertise, including the Siberian Husky Club of Canada, the Canadian Kennel Club and several international organizations. We want people and their Siberians to have long, happy lives together.
Education. The Siberian Husky is a beautiful and noble breed. They are often seen in movies, television and advertisements. Unfortunately this exposure can and has led to problems. People want to own a Siberian because of their beauty and the behavior seen in these controlled situations. They do not realize the time and effort needed to work with a Siberian in order to achieve these goals. Similar problems occurred with the Dalmatian and Saint Bernard breeds with the movies “101 Dalmatians” and “Beethoven”. S.H.A.R.P. cares about the image and myths that exist about the Siberian Husky breed. We want to ensure people understand the Siberian Husky.
Rescue. Although we hope that through advice and education, all Siberian Huskies and their owners will enjoy a lifetime together, in reality this does not always happen. When all else fails, S.H.A.R.P. works on the rescue, rehabilitation and relocation of a Siberian Husky in distress. We help local shelters and humane societies rescue neglected or mistreated Siberian Huskies. We also use this network and other contacts to return lost Siberians to their owners. And we work with these organizations and the general public to find new homes for Siberians.
S.H.A.R.P. members receive no salaries for their work. All our members donate their time because of their love of the breed. However, Siberian Huskies, which come under our care, frequently require extra medical and nutritional assistance. S.H.A.R.P. would welcome your donation to help our efforts. If financial assistance is not possible, contributions towards our auctions will be accepted.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is similar to other rescues. The first step is to fill out our adoption application. After we have reviewed it and discussed amongst ourselves, a home visit will need to be scheduled. After the home visit (sometimes at the same time if local to the dog of interest), a meet and greet will be scheduled with your whole family and your pets. After the meet and greet, you may pick up your dog from their foster home, sign the contract, and pay the adoption fee! We do not adopt dogs over 6 months of age to homes with cats.
