Looking for a friend? I could sure use one right about now. I am a 9-year-old, Schnauzer mix who up until I arrived at Animatch hasn’t had much of a life. I was in a place with many dogs – we were too many dogs and the puppies that were born were sold. I, along with a few other dogs, were dirty, matted, and very untrusting when we arrived at Animatch. If you adopt me you will find that eventually the fear diminishes and trust grows – I just can’t tell you how long it will take. Adopting one of us means that you must not have unreasonable expectations and you will be happy with whatever I have to give in return – be it a lot of affection and doggy kisses or just having the pleasure of knowing that I enjoy a soft bed and getting outside for fresh air. I’m counting on you to help me overcome past experiences and lack of basic care. Every¬thing is different and new; often I am overwhelmed and adjusting to this new world is a challenge. It would help a great deal if you have another dog to help me get acclimated to home life. You might even have to work on toilet training with me. What’s more, trying to walk with a leash attached to my collar is a whole new experience; you must be patient. I must learn not to fear you in order to move ahead. Are you ready to give me a chance at a first real home? I know I am a senior but wouldn’t it be great if you were the one to make my senior years my best ones.
