Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Whenever a sweet Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed are generally very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family.. making great companions and the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine.
Ellie is just about 18 months old (such a great age - young enough to be a blank slate soaking up new skills while being mature enough to have left her puppyish ways behind). Ellie weighs 8 lbs..a perfect size for walks and backyard fun... and then Ellie will gently warm your lap and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Ellie's great New Mexico rescuer sent the following report about sweet Ellie:
I was the lucky one that rescued Ellie and loved her up prior to her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a loving and sweet cuddle bug! Ellie was gentle and sweet with my 2 kids..12 and 14. I have 3 personal small dogs and Ellie did great with them as well. She loves to either curl up on our laps or cuddle on the couch after an active day. She slept in our bed and had no issues at all. She actually slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's!
Ellie has inherited the superior intelligence of the Cairn Terrier along with the cuddly sweetness of the Maltese. If Ellie is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Ellie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who love spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member.
Ellie will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute and scruffy Terrier mix. Ellie would love walks, window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Ellie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return.
We've requested that Ellie be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Ellie's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Ellie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 6/10/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
