My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shadie (Mae). Shadie just doesn't seem like a right name for this little old, loving lady. She is a mostly Golden, maybe with a touch of cocker spaniel. She looks like a short-legged Golden with a personality to match. She is 10 years old and has a quiet demeanor, but loves getting attention and giving some small kisses as a reward. She is looking for a home as an only dog or with another, mature dog as a companion, and no small children.

In the past Shadie Mae suffered a torn ACL of her rear, right leg. It was never repaired. The GRFR vet says it is too late for any repair to have any real effect. She is slow to get up once she has been lying down for a while, but limps along after her foster sisters just fine, although she is slow until she get going and then keeps up with the others just fine. She joins them in barking at dogs passing outside the front door, loves the outside poking around the yard, but comes when called, and likes to be in the same room with her foster mom.

She has the cutest little howl, not very loud, but just darn right cute. She loves to go for a walk, gets all excited at the door, walks well on the leash, stopping to "read the news" before happily trotting on to the next stop.

Her ideal family would be a person or couple that could offer her a quiet place to live out her days with the chance to be greatly loved, and to give love in return. She should be in a house without a lot of steep stairs because they are somewhat of an effort for her to manage and would be difficult for her to manage (four to six are a good number for her). She is on pain medications, which may be long term, although the hope is that with supplements this will not be the case. She shows loads of joy when her foster mom or dad return home, wagging her whole back end in welcome. She has a lot of love to give and deserves a home that will return it.

If you think you think you could be that lucky, loving home for this little lady, please let GRFR know.
