Seeking a forever home for our 5 year old pure-bred Viszla, Gus. He has a solid training base and is very well behaved. He does need an average of an hour of vigorous exercise (running, chasing balls, playing with other dogs; he will not run around in the yard by himself). He loves working and follows commands well (Sit, Lay, Stay, Leave It, Out, Come, Heel, Follow, Up, Shake, Kennel-Up, On Mat, etc.).
He is good with kids, but we feel he is better suited for a home without small children because he is excessively protective of the kids, constantly pacing when the kids are home checking all doors and windows and doesn't allow strangers near them. We have also had a hard time with his exercise requirements due to our kids' schedule.
He has a typical Viszla temperament (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/). Playful. Very sensitive. He's leash trained (won't pull or cross in-front of you). Not a great hunter. Needs an experienced dog owner that will be his pack leader.
