Please note that since TAGS is a smaller volunteer program, we are limited to adoptions within the Durham Region area. We encourage those applicants who apply outside of the area to check your local shelters and rescue programs. We are always happy to refer you to a program in your area.
The pretty Calico Lil (for Lil’ Mommy) came to us with four 3-week old kittens weighing 6 pounds and so sick she was sneezing blood and not eating. We got her just in time to save her, but unfortunately the illness was too much for the young kittens and they did not survive. Lil is now about a year old, 8 pounds, healthy and chipper.
Because she has gone from being a defensive and sick Mom, to a recovering cat that lost her babies, it is hard to tell how she will be with other animals. She was initially in attack mode which can be explained by the babies, but now she loves all the other animals in her foster home (2 big dogs and 2 other cats) and rubs against their faces, grooms them and plays with them. The loving days have far outnumbered the defensive days overall so we believe she will be good with other animals, probably a slow introduction is best though as she can be quite a spicy meatball.
Lil is definitely a confident little girl. She has had no litter box issues and loves people. She loves to get kisses when her people come home and is right in there with 2 large goofy dogs trying to get attention. Even when being carried away from the door or when she was being detached from one of the dogs faces in her earlier defensive mode, she is gentle and calm with her people.
Lil is a petite little survivor looking for someone to love!
