ATDR 1627

Russell is a very sweet, tiny little fellow.  He loves to snuggle in laps and is quite the ladies’ man with his foster mom, sometimes snuggling right under her chin.  He sometimes likes toys, especially if they are very floppy and 3 times his size so he can prove he is a 'big' boy.  He has also been known to fly around the room in a rousing game of chase with the other dogs and bosses even the biggest of them.  Russell enjoys lounging in the sun just inside the back door or hopping thru the doggie door to sun out on the patio and explore the flowerbeds, but he would also make an excellent apartment dog and loves going on walks.  Any yard will need a wooden fence (as he is able to climb over chain link and out of dog pens) and be very secure as he is so very tiny and can squeeze thru small spaces easily....he is too clever for his own good sometimes!!!  He is extremely crate trained and also seems to do very well when loose in the den (when his foster Mom accidentally forgets to close his crate door).  He would probably need very little convincing to sleep in the big bed.  Russell is also a good car rider and always wants to go, so he must be watched very carefully around all doors (home or car).

Little Russell is blind in one eye due to some kind of trauma suffered before he arrived which detached his retina.  He has seen an eye specialist and although that pupil is now clouded over, he is in no pain and is extremely adapted with excellent vision in his other eye and the hearing of a bat-dog.  He never misses a beat, but he can be startled from his blind side so he has informed his foster mom he prefers a home with no young children as their exuberance and rough handling can alarm and frustrate him.  Russell perfers an experienced, but gentle and loving owner and a quiet home.....with no cats or pocket pets!!  Whether in an apartment or home with a fenced yard, with or without other dogs, Russell would be a great and loving companion for a family or single owner who understands his need for kind and gentle handling.  He is a little doll who loves everyone who loves him back.
