My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rooney is under 2 years of age and approx. 42 pounds. He is clearly a Whippet and we cannot determine what, if any, other breed he may be. He has most of the Whippet tendencies. VERY high prey drive, leaps and runs like a deer! Rooney doesn't bark but "bays" to get your attention if someone is near.

Rooney was found literally in the middle of a road in the country. Neighbors said he had been running in and out of traffic for over a month!! Underweight and fearful, Rooney had to recover from parasites, including heartworms. He is now WELL and ready to find his forever home!

Rooney is crate trained and calm in the house. He plays with his toys and loves being near you. From Rooney's behavior we believe he was taken from his mother and siblings at a young age and then had little or no affection or interaction with humans. He is learning more all the time. At first, he didn't understand being petted or loved. Now he comes to stand by you for you to scratch his ears and hug him. He also loves to put his head under your chin to "hug" you. \

Rooney's companion is beautiful Bijou (also on the website) and they play chase, wrestle, and run like the wind. He is learning how to be a dog from Bijou and has started to smile!
