My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the entire post which should explain our adoption process.

Twiggy is in East Tennessee and will be transported north upon adoption. Twiggy is an 8 yo rat terrier . She was dumped in the kill shelter's night deposit box. She was scalded by her own urine which created hair loss. She was also emaciated. She has been vetted further after coming into rescue and had a small, cancerous tumor removed from her back. She also had a dental with four extractions. She is HW negative, UTD on shots and is on flea/tick/HW preventative. She loves feeding time. Her engine revs, her tail curls over her back...and she prances like a pony! Twiggy will make a perfect companion! Video can be provided upon request.

We believe Twiggy was used as a breeder. She is so appreciative of any attention and will sleep in your lap all day if allowed! She sleeps quietly in a crate at night- but loves sleeping in bed too. She is fine around other dogs and while she hasn't been around cats, we feel they would be no problem. She enjoys sunning on the patio and has taught herself to use the doggie door. A fenced yard would be preferred.

The perfect home for Twig would be a quiet home with no small children . A retired couple or mature adult home which would not leave her alone long periods of time would be best. She enjoys riding in your lap in the car . Her new home must commit to keeping her on the grain free , good quality food for the rest of her life. Twiggy, as you can see, was given her name based on her long, spindly legs! She weighed 6 lbs. when dropped at the shelter. She is close to 8 lbs. since coming into rescue.

If interested , please complete the application on our website http://www.deaddogswalkingtn.com . A rescue rep will contact you immediately. Transport north is via Alpha Dog Transport. They charge $140 for their services. All vet paperwork will be handed off when you claim her at their stop in CT.An adoption fee will also apply in an effort to recoup some of our vet expense.
