Nova's Story...
You will never meet a nicer dog than Nova. She's a 6 year old super sweet Chihuahua mix. Nova was transferred to Friendship from another shelter while pregnant. She had her litter while in foster care and was an excellent mother. Her foster mom said she was a wonderful guest in her home. Nova is finally ready to find a home of her own. She's somewhat timid in her kennel but as soon as you take her out, she's a little love bug. She loves to be with people and have her belly you can see in the 3rd photo. Nova is excellent on a leash and would be a great walking partner. We really can't say enough good things about Nova. Kids over 6 years of age may be best. She may be intimidated with rambunctious younger kids.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nova, a Elyria Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
