Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi Beagle Lovers! I am Giacomo, but my foster mom calls me Gio. Aren’t I cute? That’s what I hear all day long, so it must be true! I am a 12-week-old beagle/terrier puppy. I came in with my 4 siblings and I was the only boy. I am your typical puppy: curious, playful, chewing, silly, learning, etc. I love my foster mom’s shoes but Iam learning that toys are more appropriate. Luckily there are baskets full of toys in my foster home. I love all of them.
I get along with the other dogs in my foster home, but I am still a little scared when I meet new dogs, so you should have patience with me. Once I get to know them, I am playful but it is scary meeting for the first time. Once I get more confidence, I am sure I will get better. Same thing with humans. Sometimes I get scared and I run away, but then I run right back to them because I so badly want to say hi. My foster mom tells me I’ve gotten so much better with that.
I love treats and food! I am learning how to play with the other dogs in my foster home. They are teaching me what is appropriate and what is annoying. Luckily, most of them love me. I also live with a cat. She is very interesting and I keep trying to get her to play but mostly she just sits there. My foster mom tells her to run away, but she is old and doesn’t really care. If I were to live with a more spunky cat, I am sure the cat will tell me off.
I am looking for a home where someone will love me and teach me all about being a good dog. Is it you? I am ready and waiting!
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements; and for families with very small children, puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets and hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
