My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Bella, a 3-year old, purebred Chinese Crested from KY, and I came into rescue when my owner, who was a breeder lost her home and had to move. Now that I’m living in rescue with a wonderful foster family, I am learning how to be a dog for the first time. I should start by saying that obtaining a dog from a breeder takes special patience and understanding. I was used for one thing and one thing only, making babies. I didn’t get toys, or a cushy dog bed. I didn’t go for walks or play at the dog park. I didn’t learn to potty outside or have a chance to sleep in a bed at night with my owners. So now I’m learning that a leash isn’t such a bad thing, still not so sure about house training but I will use a potty pad most the time and I can be a little shy, so I will need a home without young children. I love to be carried and give kisses. I would love someone who has experience with my fancy breed or is willing to learn. I bet you are asking yourself, what is a Chinese Crested? Well here is a little information on my breed- we are alert, affectionate and playful. I’m the hairless kind where I only have hair on the head, tail and feet. So, it’s important that care is taken to protect my exposed skin in the sun and did you know that I can get acne and blackheads? I’m like a regular teenager! Cresteds also don’t really have doggy odor, our soft warm skin makes us great bed warmers on chilly nights and, for obvious reasons, shedding isn’t much of a problem. Although no dog is truly ‘hypoallergenic,’ Cresteds shed little to no hair and are on AKC’s list of breeds recommended for those with allergies. I’m really looking forward to us meeting and getting to know each other! Have a great day!
