Axel's Story...
If you are searching for the perfect dog, look no further. We have found him! His name is Axel and he is a handsome, 4 year old Shepherd/Lab mix. Here is his description from the sheter's rescue coordinator

Axel is a 4 yr old, 40 lb shepherd/lab mix. He was trained to be a service dog for the owner's granddaughter, and went to school with her. He was not purchased as a service dog, but underwent training while he was in the home. The owner did much of the training, under the direction of a trainer. This was done so the dog would be allowed to go to school with the granddaughter. ( I call him a "sort of service dog") Unfortunately she has developed an allergy to him and he has to be rehomed.

Axel was vetted at the shelter yesterday. He is neutered and HW negative.

4. Allowed us to handle him, and allows children to crawl all over him.
5. No fear of strangers. He barks when they come to the house, and then becomes Mr. Friendly.
6. Allows children to play with him. Went to school as a service dog.
7. Plays with their other male shepherd. Friendly and appropriate with the dogs at the shelter yesterday.
8. No resource guarding.
9. No muzzle required for vetting.
10. No medical issues. HW neg
11. Ignores cats.
12. Walks very well on the leash. No pulling.
13. Medium energy

He's a good one!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Axel, a Ardmore German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Ardmore, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Ardmore.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ardmore already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ardmore breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ardmore paves the way for another one to be saved.
