My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for the complete package of dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly? Look no further than Ralphie, your classic all-American senior black lab who would love to celebrate Fourth of July in his new home.

Ralphie was found as a stray and picked up by animal control. The vet estimated him to be around 10 years of age but he is definitely not ready for the retirement home just yet. He has the energy and playfulness of a dog half his age, with the maturity and good manners that comes with an older dog. He absolutely hands down loves playing fetch the most, and can chase down balls faster than Javier Baez! Yet, he is sweet and gentle with everybody he meets, both 2 legged and 4 legged. He was kid-tested at a baseball game and just loved the 3-6 year old group he met. While he would make a wonderful family dog, he also is good with just about every other home setting - be it a single person, couple, etc.

Through lab work, the vet discovered that Ralphie is in the beginning stages of renal disease, so he was started on a prescription diet. This has stabilized him and he is doing great. His future home is encouraged to keep him on a healthy/prescription diet in order to keep him in top shape. He comes to you fully vetted - neuter, microchip, vaccinations, deworming and heartworm negative. He is non destructive, housebroken, and incredibly well socialized. This is the dog you can take with you to the kids' baseball games with no drama. Having company over? He'll love it.

Ralphie's adoption fee is $150. If you think you might be interested in adopting this gem, please complete and submit your adoption application at heathersfosterdogs.org.

Ralphie will be at the Tinley Park PetSmart on Saturday, July 15th, from 11-2:30 pm. Please bring your household family members and any other dogs to meet him!
