My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zion is a friendly, sweet boy who would make a great addition to any home. He is playful and loves to be near his people. He especially likes to be admired by strangers he meets on the street. He still runs and plays like a puppy, but gives the solid, comforting companionship of a very wise dog. Zion is approximately 1 1/2 – 2 years old and currently weighs 52 lbs.

Here Is What Zion’s Foster Family Had To Say:

Zion is friendly with everyone. Not too shy, but not too energetic. He loves to play and romp with other dogs, but also loves to chill and snuggle. He loves to lay his head on your chest. He will try to get as close to you as possible to make sure the cuddles are enjoyed. He is not shy and makes friends easily with people of all ages and other dogs. It is unknown how he would be around cats, but he is fantastic with all the dogs we meet on walks.

Zion is a young dog and is just learning how to be a great house guest. He is slowly learning some commands such as “sit” but would definitely need his new family to be willing to continue with his training or take him to obedience school. He does listen very well and is eager to please. Often a one time correction is all he needs to stop an unwanted behaviour such as counter surfing. It is clear that Zion is doing his best to be a good boy and to do what is expected of him but it helps if there are treats involved. He reacts very well to positive reinforcement.

Zion is very well house trained. He has had a few accidents, but he very clearly signaled me by putting his paws on my chest and pacing at the door (I was sleeping). I learned to get up earlier to let him out, and there have been no other issues. He is crate trained and is comfortable in his crate and we crate him when going out for longer than a few hours. We don’t believe he would need to be crated in his forever home as he is fine when left alone and has not had any destructive issues. He was not leashed trained when he came to us and would pull all the time but we tried him with a harness and it worked almost immediately! He is now very easy to walk on-leash.

We believe Zion would be a welcome addition to any family. He is young and will need further training but he is an amazing, willing and affectionate boy who just needs further direction to help him become a confident and capable family companion.
