BlackJack is a friendly and happy little dynamo who has just arrived in rescue and is now getting acquainted with his foster home. He is bouncy, wiggly, full of energy and ready to go........anywhere! This absolutely adorable little guy has, somewhere along the way in his very short life, suffered a pretty traumatic injury to the left side of his face. He has what appears to be a healed fracture to his jaw right under the injured eye. As he is only about 5 months old, it just makes you wonder just what his life was like before he happened our way. He has nothing to worry about now.....just gotta concentrate on finding himself a perfect family!
BlackJack's lack of sight in one eye does not hinder him in the least. He is a love! A sweet little guy that is just so eager to please. As with any puppy his age, BlackJack requires a basic obedience program. If you feel that you have what it takes to be that special family for BlackJack, please contact us. He is waiting to meet you!
8/21 Update: BlackJack, or Jack as he has become known, has settled in nicely with his fur-siblings and the household routine. He sleeps quietly at night in his crate, keeping it clean, then making a mad dash outside in the morning to do his "business". Jack is learning new words; off, outside, crate, and inside. He's a smart pup that will grow into a stunningly beautiful, and intelligent, dog.
9/10: GREAT news for Blackjack! A follow up vet visit and further X Rays indicate that the original diagnosis was incorrect and that surgery to reduce the old healed fracture may give him at least partial sight! He has an appointment for a CT scan this week which will allow the surgeons to have the best possible view for his surgery. Please keep Blackjack in your thoughts as his wonderful vets work to give this lovable pup the best possible outcome.
9/22: "Jack", as he is called, underwent extensive surgery earlier this week. The wonderful doctors were able to remove the bone fragments preventing his eye from moving forward while tacking down the membranes also impeding the eye. He's a bit swollen but the eye is now visible and working! Two good eyes to better see the world and the people that love him.
