Tyson is a low-riding, bowling-ball headed, hunk of love!! This is the other boy that was at the shelter for 5 weeks, clearly waiting to be a CCM dog! This boy was brought in to the shelter, and reported as a stray. While at the shelter, he was great at avoiding any confrontations with other dogs, but that 5 weeks was painful for this boy - the stress was hard on him, ... and he lost 10 pounds. He was deteriorating daily, and was placed on the urgent list, because it's an overcrowded shelter with very limited space. Thank goodness he had just gone urgent when it was time to temperament test, and when we tested him, he passed, much to our relief and delight. You see, we had done the unforgivable - we had fallen in love already. That's a no-no when temperament testing, because it can cause you to overlook behaviors that might cause them to fail, because of your emotions. But who could help it?? This big lug of a boy just wanted to crawl in our laps, and bury his face. He is so adorable we just couldn't stand it!!
Tyson is 60 pounds of English Bulldog mixed with American Bulldog, we believe. Tyson earned his name because he made us think of a heavy weight. He's a big brawny boy, and when we thought heavyweight, we immediately thought Mike Tyson! The handlers were struggling with a name that suited him, and when this one was tossed out, the decision was unanimous - Tyson it was!
In pictures, Tyson, as you can see, doesn't have too many expressions, but in person, it's hard to miss his delight on seeing people he likes! He is very much a snuggler, and is just hoping to be loved and petted for the rest of his life. Tyson LOVES a ball, any ball, is VERY SMART and very easy to train. He will only lay down with his rear legs straight out behind him — pretty adorable! When he wants something — food, attention, or affection — he will stare at you relentlessly, and he will win a staring contest every time!!, Tyson is such a sweet, easy going boy - he is going to make someone a very happy dog parent!
Tyson is located in Atlanta, GA and is available for adoption immediately. He will be able to go to his forever home after graduation from the Canine CellMates program. Tyson is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots. Canine CellMates dogs are trained in items similar to the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. They learn basic obedience and commands such as sit, down, stay, go to place, and leave it. They are also crate trained.
