Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Duncan has had a rough start to to life and deserves so much more than he's been given. He came to PRBCR a 2 year old Heartworm positive, unneutered and non clinical Hip dysplasia lovable dog. Updated medical progress below.
Duncan would love to have a family with kids to play with. His foster family doesn't have children, but when kids come to visit he LOVES to cuddle watching tv or to play ball with them. While teaching 3 rowdy boys to play tennis, Duncan would retrieve the balls and bring them back, dropping them at their feet without any commands. He didn't try to steal them back or anything until one got away. Anything the boys say or do he wants to be involved in a friendly happy manner.
Duncan loves nothing more than to please his person and is sensitive to just telling him "No". He quickly responds and wants to find a way to please you and make you happy.
He is now housebroken and has been free in the house at night without accidents or getting in to stuff. He does not do well with cats or small mammals. He's not aggressive but gets overly excited and wants to pounce on/has a prey drive that would have to be constantly monitored with these. We're working on them, but it would be best to not put him in the light of temptation around cats.
MEDICAL PROGRESS He is also heartworm free and has been neutered! He's also off of all medications to manage his mild hip dysplasia. He has NO activity restrictions. He may develop clinical arthritis during his life. Due to knowing he has mild hip dysplasia, the rescue will pay for an FHO hip procedure if he becomes clinical even after being adopted out. It would have to be done with one of the veterinarians we work with. It is so difficult to estimate when/if this may/ever be needed. Obviously as the adopter, you are more than welcome to use a veterinarian that you'd like, or even choose to pursue a total hip replacement if you find yourself in a financial position to do either.
Otherwise, he's a happy healthy boy looking for a family to love him! Please visit the website at www.prbcr.org
PRBCR adopts to homes in NC, SC, and GA. The adoption fee is $250.00, we do a home visit, and would need a satisfactory vet reference with history of annual exam, vaccines, heartworm test, and purchase of monthly year round heartworm preventatives and flea preventatives, Please visit the website at www.prbcr.org and visit our Facebook page and like it at https://www.facebook.com/prbcr.org/
