My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little cutie is Sundae! Sundae is a very small chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix who came to the shelter as a stray, and surprisingly no one came in to claim him. He is tiny - just about 4 pounds! We think he is around two years old. He is healthy, neutered, mostly house trained, and an incredibly sweet dog who needs a home!

He's currently in a foster home, and here's what foster mom Shelly has to say about him: "Sundae has been at our house since May 9. He is such a sweet dog! He has lived with two other foster dogs, and seems to get along fine with other dogs when introduced slowly. He is pretty reactive to other dogs when we see other dogs while taking a walk, but once we pass the dogs he is back to his sweet self. Speaking of walks, he loves walks and is very well behaved on the leash.

He does fine with our cat (who is at least twice his size!). He sleeps quietly in our bed at night, is 90% housetrained (very rarely has accidents in the house, but we're still working towards 100%!). He is shy when meeting new people, but warms up relatively quickly to women. He is much more shy and scared when meeting men for the first time. He would do fine living in a home with men, but just takes longer to warm up. After six weeks at our house, he and foster dad Eric are now great friends!"

We noticed that Sundae had some hair loss when he came into the shelter. The vet checked him out and determined that there was no medical cause for his hair loss, but it still hasn't grown back despite lots of vitamins, medicated baths, and love! Possibly he is part hairless dog!

Because of Sundae's tiny size, he would do best in a home without young kids (age 12 and up, ideally). If you are interested in meeting Sundae, please call foster mom Shelly (call after 4:30 if calling on a weekday) at (530) 521-9012 to set up a time to meet this sweet little dog.
