My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Updated Oct-2009 **- Domino first came to the shelter in November 2008 and it is way past time for this great guy to find a home. Domino has so much to offer. He is fun, energetic and smart enough to learn anything you try and teach him. Sadly, despite loving care from all the staff, Domino is constantly stressed in the shelter environment. The stress makes Domino act out in his kennel and he is unable to gain weight and so is painfully thin. This puts Domino in a catch-22 situation: He can’t shine until he’s living in a loving home but he can’t find anyone to take him home because he just doesn’t shine. Domino really needs to live in a home environment where he can learn to trust and bond with someone of his own. Domino craves mental stimulation and loves working with people who challenge his intelligence with creative games and training techniques. Domino would thrive in a home that does agility or obedience competitions or that simply wants to play fun and stimulating games with him. ** Original Notes Jan-2009 ** Domino is a playful, one-year-old, pinto puppy who lives to play. He only weighs about 48lbs but if he wants to go somewhere he manages to put every pound behind pulling on the leash. Domino enjoys treats and has responded well to obedience training – he has already learned sit, wait and down. When he first came to us Domino was very timid and nervous but he has really warmed up and he loves to be busy and focuses best on the handlers who keep him moving mentally as well as physically. Domino still exhibits some puppy-like behavior including jumping and taking treats roughly when excited but he is a fast learner and should overcome these impulses with continued training. Domino came to us in November 2008 and from day one he was very distressed in his cage and acted out – as if trying to make himself appear bigger and tougher than he really is. This loud, aggressive-looking behavior could be why he is still with us because once he is out of the cage he is a fun, smart puppy who really wants to please his people and show how clever he is.
