UPDATED BIO 11/28/08: Duchess is a precious little 6 y/o 6.5# girlie and is the mother of Puddin' (see below). Duchess & Puddin' are being fostered in West Palm Beach, FL. They are very bonded and must be adopted together.
Puddin' and Duchess are making strides everyday! They recently went to the vet, and he only had good news for the most part. Duchess does have a lot of tartar on her teeth, and the vet thinks she might lose more than one or two teeth when she has her dental the first week of December.
The girls are no longer shaking and huddling together, but are coming out on their own to explore. They are being taken upstairs daily where everyone piles on the bed and gets comfortable. Apparently, Duchess likes it so much, she is now going up there on her own! Unfortunately for her, once she is up there, she can't come back down the stairs so we have to go fetch her. She is a playful little dog, and really loves her little bones and will happily chew on them. She also like squeaky toys and perks up when she hears them. She is also very quiet and has not made one peep so she isn't a yappy dog. She gets excited when she sees her fur-brothers and loves say 'hello' to them and will follow them around a bit. Her tongue sticks out 100% of the time, sometimes just a bit, but other times she seems to purposely stick it out as far as she can - too cute! Please consider adopting this mother/daughter duo - they are so deserving of a forever home where they will be cherished as a loving companion dogs. PLEASE NOTE! Because of their size and timidness, Duchess and Puddin' can only go into an adult home.
Initial Bio 11/06/08: Meet Dutchess - she is a precious little 6 y/o 6.5# girlie and is the mother of Puddin' (see below). Dutchess is the yorkie on the right in the picture. Dutchess & Puddin' are very bonded and must be adopted together. They came into rescue because their owner died and the family didn't want them. They have not received any vetting or grooming in a very long time and were extremely matted; the groomer did her best to shave them down, leaving them with a little choppy haircuts, but they will once again have beautiful coats in no time. Sadly, these two little girls spend their time huddled on the bed in their room...... shaking.......it's so sad! They have been in their foster home for 2 weeks, and have some made progress. Duchess appears to be a bit more frightened and timid than Puddin' and seems to follow Puddin's lead. She is showing signs of playfulness, and enjoyed a bone recently - until her daughter stole it from her! They will go outside to potty if they are both carried out and put on the ground, but don't know how to ask to go out, or are too frightened to go out, therefore they are having accidents inside. Foster Mom will be working on that. Duchess has horrible rotten teeth, so she will most likely lose a lot of teeth during her dental. Her tongue almost always sticks out, as does Puddin's - too cute! They both get along with the two male yorkies in the house and engage in a little bit of play, and have just a passing interest in the cats. Please consider adopting this mother/daughter duo - they are so deserving of a forever home where they will be cherished as a loving companion dogs.
