Hi, this is Lakota. He is an 8 month old, neutered, Catahoula Leopard Dog. A friend of mine got him, but she wasn't aware how energetic Catahoulas are, so she was going to take him to the shelter. I stepped in to foster. He is now ready for his forever home! He I UTD on all his shots, is potty-trained, crate-trained and knows basic commands. He walks okay on the leash, but does get overly excited.

Lakota is totally worthy of his name, he is completely 'friendly' and has never met a dog or a person he didn't want to lick to death. He is very energetic, is treat motivated and would do anything for a tennis ball. He needs someone who will be patient with him and also take him to dog beach, dog park and hiking - basically any outdoor activity. He loves kids, but because he's a boisterous puppy and still learning boundaries, would probably do best in a home with older children.

I would absolutely keep him, but I promised my landlord he was just a foster. I am attached to him so I need to make sure the family or person who adopts him understands he needs patience and consistency. He does respond to redirection, but he is not an easy "lay around" kind of dog. He is not aggressive, but he does alert with a short bark if anyone should knock on the door.

He is the biggest love bug, snuggle bug ever, but he does need a firm leader. He really is a dumb, goofy, sweetheart who is up for anything.
