My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Ace, I'm a very happy, sweet boy who loves everyone. I will make any family who adopts me really happy. I'm energetic yet an easy going, calm and gentle Lab mix. I'm 2-3 years old, 65-70 pounds, taller compared to lab and am really good about potting outside the house. I'm a love and would do well with children, other dogs, men and women as I adore everyone I meet. I'm very curious about kitties as I'm not sure about them, but I haven't been mean. I can be submissive so I have gotten along with all dogs that I've met. I don't have a mean bone in me.

My family keeps me active and does lots of activates with me so when I go inside I'm a calm boy who lounges around and sleeps. I love swimming! Some of my other favorite things to do is playing fetch, long walks, playing in the water, go on the boat, and playing with other dogs. I really love my bones, belly and ear rubs! My foster family crates me at night, but only for very short periods during the day if they leave me alone. I do well being crated for 4-5 hours IF I'm properly exercised with walks or long playing sessions before crating. I don't think I would be happy being crated for longer than that. My perfect home would be one where someone is not gone for more then 4-5 hours. Some people think they can come home for lunch and possibly walk me for 1/2 then crate me again. I wouldn't like being crated all day with just a short time out of the crate in the afternoon.

I'm really good on a leash, no pulling at all except when my noise catches a good scent. I did really good at a pet friendly restaurant. I went on a long walk, that sat right next to my foster family very nicely people watching. That was a fun day. My family is working with me to sit before I get my food because I can get excited when I see my food coming. Now I sit, and am working on waiting so I will be a good boy for my new family. I'm very loyal and stay by my family when off leash at their home. But they trained me to do that. The fireworks on the 4th of July didn't bother me at all, but I was a little scared of the thunderstorm did. I came from a shelter in Kentucky and would love a family who will exercise me and have fun with me.

I tested positive for Ehrilichiosis, which is a tick transmitted disease. The rescue is unsure if I'm just carrying the antibodies or actual have it, but they are treating me anyway. Since I was rescued from a shelter, my rescue has no previous medical for me. 30 days of Doxycyline and I'll be all better. I began treatment for the Ehrilichiosis on July 17th. In the future when you bring me in for my annual exam and get the 4dx test which test for heartworm and the 3 tick transmitted diseases, I may continue to test positive for Ehrilichiosis but I won't need any further treatment. If someone loves me and wants to bring me home before I finish my Doxycyline, my rescue will give you the remaining medicine. Please don't let that stop you from meeting me. I also have a cracked tooth which will be pulled on August 14th. My rescue is taking very good care of me, but I would really like a family all of own.

Ace is being fostered in a home in Wilmington, IL, which is where you and your family would go to meet him with an approved adoption application. Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters or are strays, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. Breed and weight at maturity are only guesses. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED!
