Hi!!! Let me introduce myself - my name is Rainee and I am a 3 year old Green Cheek Conure. I come from a home where I was almost never kept in a cage and had very little supervision. Due to this fact I have a very spunky "little rebel" attitude to show for it!!! I love people and am most comfortable snuggling on your shoulder,but sometimes will throw cute little temper tantrums as I think I am "hot stuff". My foster parents call this "hilariously predictable" and mostly laugh. (they must be sooooo scared). Watch out though, as I will sometimes bite when I don't get my own way, especially when going back to my cage. My foster Mommy and Daddy say this will go away with lots of training and me learning to trust you. GEEZ!!! I am only 3!!!
They also tell me I am quiet for a Green Cheek. I express my feelings with a milieu of adorable little noises and I can even say my name!!! I am still a very talented "flyer" now that my wings are clipped, so PLEASE watch out for the ceiling fans. The wonderful folks at FPR do highly recommend you will continue to keep my wings clipped if you adopt me.
I am also a little bit of an explorer and my beak can get into all sorts of trouble if I am left unsupervised. Ideally my new family will have lots of time to interact with me on daily basis. I also can get a bit anxious when left alone for too long in my cage.
My new family probably should not have small children as I can bite very hard. A four-legged housemate gave me some grief in my previous home, so I'm not sure how comfortable I would be with other pets for now. Hey with me as a companion, what more could you need??
Currently I'm on a healthy diet of Zupreem pellets and lots of fresh veggies, fruits, and grains. I LOVE seeds (only as treats) and go crazy over safflower and sunflower in particular.
A little patience when earning my trust will go a long way, and I'm incredibly sweet when I warm up to you. I am a spunky young bird with lots of love to give, so won't you please come and meet me and maybe even take me home? Oh! An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird's cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
