Here's what the humans have to say about me:
8/18/17 - UPDATE - no longer accepting applications
Chip (who prefers the name "Baxter") is a very smart, loving and playful puppy who would prefer a home with children and other/another dog.
He is leash trained and house trained.. He LOVES squeaky toys and any other toys that make noise. As he enters his teething phase, he's also become a fan of the hard nylabones and ice cubes. Sometimes he plays fetch. Sometimes he just prefers to chase the ball. As a puppy, he believes that it is his choice to make!
He is very smart for his age. He knows the commands "sit", "come", (always good to reinforce these commands with a treat in hand). "Stay" he understands but is still learning to do it consistently. Treat in hand use the word "stay". open hand with a small downward movement repeat word "stay" walk off a small distance repeat word "stay" if he does not listen, no treat and start over until he obeys. He is smart so he will pick up quickly, he just needs to know its important to you. He wants to please and loves to be told that he is a good boy.
Baxter loves people, other dogs, and children, He is still learning how to not jump on people. He is a puppy so is very delighted to make new friends though his greeting will be jump up to meet you and jump up to kiss you
Get ready for lots of kisses, and cuddling, he really wants to be close to you. Get toys that are tough enough to withstand puppy teeth.
7/10/17 - My name is Chip
We were with our mama hanging out on a mail carriers route when she spotted us and stopped to help us. She contacted the local rescue that she had worked with before and they agreed to help us. We are now in a wonderful foster home with her two resident dogs and having a great time. We can't wait to have a home we can call our own. As you can see we are some playful pups.
There are 6 of us...Chad, Cici, Cassie, Cody, Chip and Copper. We are 13-14 weeks old and weigh between 7 1/2 and 9 1/2 pounds.
The adoption fee of $495 includes age-appropriate vaccines, initial de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, microchip, USDA interstate health certificate (for transport only) and transport fee. Please go to our site for general information and the adoption application. fordogssakerescue.org. The application is the first step in all adoptions/inquiries. This is not a link; please type in into a new browser window. At this time, we are unable to adopt to Rhode Island residents. Please note: Pups marked “pending” are adopted but not yet traveled home. They are to be considered unavailable. Thank you. Additional information is available on our site fordogssakerescue.org.
