Cocoa's Info...

I am a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Cocoa's Story...
Cocoa is one of a litter of 4 puppies born to their mama in the woods of a residential neighborhood. Apparently their mama was abandoned and on her own when a caring person spotted her and started to feed her and was able to rescue Mini and her family.

She is a very special puppy and will need a very special adopter, you see Little Cocoa appears to have been born blind, she went to see a specialist and we will run more tests, but she does not seem to have any vision whatsoever. She's never know what it's like to see, and she's doing great navigating with her sense of smell and hearing. She is a sweet happy puppy who will need a very special adopter.

We start all of our adoptions with a one week sleepover, so you know everything there is to know before finalizing the adoption.

Our adoption fee is $225 for puppies under 6 months old, paid when you pick your puppy up. They will be up to date on vaccinations as of that time, but they'll need additional boosters that is your responsibility. We wait until 6 months of age to spay/neuter puppies, because getting them fixed too early can cause more medical problems long term. What we do is called a provisional adoption which means you can take the puppy home at 8 weeks and assume all vaccines and vetting, but we don't actually finalize the adoption until they are spayed/neutered, microchipped and given their rabies at 6 months. You can get a free spay/neuter at First Coast No More Homeless Pets, or you're welcome to go to the vet of your choice at your own expense. Once that is done, then we finalize the adoption and everything is official.

Adoption Fees for dogs/puppies 6 months old or older: $150
This includes vetting, UTD Vaccinations, microchip and spay or neuter

We ask that you fill out an adoption application before you meet our animals. You can download it here: http://www.floridaurgentrescue.com/adopt

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cocoa, a Jacksonville Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog puppy from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
