My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is ready to find her forever home. She recently finished raising a litter of 7 beautiful puppies and is ready to share her love with a new family.
Lucy was picked up as a stray near the Illinois/Kentucky border. She appears to have had a rough start in life. When she was found she was underweight, newly pregnant, and living with a previously fractured pelvis. Lucy's pelvis had healed on it own but unfortunately left her with only one hip socket. Don't let that deter you though she is one tough little girl. She has adapted well to her injury and it does not slow her down. She has almost no outward signs of her injury.
Lucy came to H.E.L.P. back in March and it was obvious that she had never lived in home. She was not house broken, scavenged constantly for food, and could creatively escape the yard by digging under or climbing over.
Now after raising her puppies Lucy has adapted very well to life indoors and has turned into true cuddle bug. She loves to sleep in your lap, on a bed or on top of a pile of pillows and blankets. Lucy loves stuffed animals and often carries one or more in her mouth everywhere she goes. She gets along perfectly with other dogs, knows to avoid cats, and adores children. Especially little boys. She is also good for both baths and nail trims. Lucy is about 95% house broken and will only have an accident if left alone. Her new home should garbage cans with lids and a securely fenced yard or plan on leash walking her only.
She would be an ideal dog for almost anyone from a young growing family to a single senior looking for a companion.
Come and meet this special girl!!
