My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Toby is a very sweet boy who just wants to curl up in your lap. He is a big love bug, and just wants to hang out with you, and while he loves a good hike or walk he is not hyper. Toby is estimated to be between 1.5-2 years old, and while he only comes to your knee, he is 70 lbs.

He is very smart, and was easy to train. Toby is totally house broken, knows all his basic commands, is very food oriented, responds well to praise, and walks very well on a leash. He does not like the crate but does not destroy property. He has been going to doggy daycare for socialization and is a hit with the people there.

Toby gets along great with some dogs, but not all. He is very dominant so he would do best with a female dog or as an only dog in the home. He thinks cats are things to be chased so he needs a home with no cats.

We are sad to have to rehome him because while he is excellent with our family, he becomes very stressed with strangers coming into his space. New people, especially young, active children, and loud noises startle him. When Toby is startled he gets scared and defensive and has acted out by snapping at whatever has startled him. He would be your best friend in the right environment but he will need a family with no young children that can help him with his socialization and help him avoid what scares him. Toby's personality is very loving and loyal. He is an excellent friend, and he would be excellent for special training such as agility.

NOTE: Toby is a courtesy post and not in the custody of CPR. Applications will be reviewed by our adoption team and then forwarded to his owner for her to finalize. Please email esands108@yahoo.com for more information about Toby or the adoption process. This dog is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $125.
