My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everyone!! Nice to meet all of you!! My name is Rocky and I am a handsome, 27 year old, Goffin's Cockatoo, which means I'm a young fellow since we Goffin's can live 50 to 60 years or more. I've been with my foster Mommies for a few weeks now and I am settling in quite nicely.

I love music and I will entertain you by dancing to the beat. Of course, you are always welcome to join me and we can share our moves!! When we aren't playing, I am quite content to sit on your shoulder so that you can give me some head scritches. I love those too. But hey, what cockatoo doesn't?? Remember, though, please don't pet me on my back or under my wings, just the top of my head. I love lots of attention just like you do.

I'm a little shy around people that I don't know and prefer not to step up from inside my cage until I know you better. Once I trust you and enjoy spending time with you out of my cage, I'll step up most of the time.

I am on a healthy pellet diet of Zupreem Natural Fruit Flavors. I also like bananas. Now this is where " I love attention" comes about - you need to stand there and hold the banana for me so that I will eat it. Told you I like to be spoiled. I also like corn on the cob, just cut me a piece and I will eat away at it until it's all gone or all over your floor (I am really messy with the cob). I also love these things called almonds and cashews - YUMMY!!!

I am very loving and playful with "my chosen one", but not so much with others. Those I may possibly bite. I would do best in a home with no children or other pets. I do like my parronts to be in the same room as me, so when you leave the room I will use "My outside in the jungle" voice to try and locate you. For this reason, I am definitely not suitable for condo or apartment living.

When you look at my picture, you may be wondering what that dark spot is a little below and to the left of my eye. I believe you humans call that an "ear", the better to hear you tell me how "good" I am. Actually, the reason you can even see my ear is that at one point on my journey to find my forever home, I developed a plucking habit in that area and my beautiful feathers never grew back.

I am wondering if you are that person who could shower me with the attention and love that I need to be happy? Would you like to come over and find out if you could be my "chosen" one?? I would sure like to meet you.

The wonderful folks at Florida Parrot Rescue told me I have an Amazon Wishlist, so I am sharing it with you just in case you would like to surprise me with a gift. Please follow the link below to see my wishlist.

Please don't forget to watch my video! I believe "Dancing with the Stars" is calling my name........
