Griffin is a fun-yet easygoing adorable and unique terrier mix pulled from a high kill Houston shelter and now being fostered in Rhode Island. He is friendly, loves people, gets on well with dogs and has known a past life as a pet. He seems house trained, loves his toys, will follow you around, lounge on the couch and is overall great company! His energy is quite reasonable and he is very easy to get along with! This is not a demanding dog. He can be stubborn....he has selective hearing to the point where his Texas fostered initially wondered if he was deaf, lol!......is a bit of an escape artist and does not have appreciation for being confined...he will bark in his crate and can be destructive if shut in a room as a replacement. Classic terrier traits, and simple management issues for those who have love of the terrier character, wrapped up in one very amenable package in this little guy :) Griffin is a medium in size, looking larger than his 25 lbs would imply, and a young adult.

THE RIGHT HOME for Griffin should be experienced enough to settle Griffin in understanding that confinement may be a challenge. That he is housebroken, happy to lounge around the house and loves toys are all amazing tools. Our primary advice will be to settle him in without use of confinement and to stock him up with toys to keep him busy and out of trouble. We do not require or even prefer a fenced yard for this guy, as he is naughty, lol! When you are with him, he is as pleasant a companion as you could want, happy to meet anyone, up for anything and a fantastic companion.

His adoption fee will be $450. Applications are available on the southpawsexpress.og website, or via contacting Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com.

About Southpaws Express

About Our Rescue Group...

Southpaws Express is the brainchild of highly rescue-experienced women, one coming from a southern shelter background and the other from New England breed rescue. We try our best to combine our experience to do right by dogs in high kill shelter regions while paying tribute to the New England protocols that put dog rescue so successfully on the map.

We are, and prefer to remain, small, pulling only a few dogs at a time and offering individualized attention to our prospective adopters. A commonality we share is that we are both "big picture" people, a core belief being that every dog we take in, and every adoption we complete, should move rescue forward. We believe in great ambassador dogs for rescue, happy adopters, and an adoption process that is both experienced and caring. We are not rigid or inflexible, and it is always our goal to build advocacy for rescue. We want you to have a good time!

Be it through adoption, volunteerism or education, we welcome you to our family!

Our Adoption Process...

Southpaws Express is a progressive rescue that prides itself on an intimate, individualized application process. We strive to make it as friendly and personalized as we can, and assist with good matching advice and direction, catered to the individual....the individual dog and adopter. Our application is available on the southpawsexpress.org site, and introductory emails always are welcomed to Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com. Our standard adoption fee is $400 ($450 for puppies), which helps defray the weighty cost of transporting our foster dogs up north from their high kill southern environments and providing an excellence of vet care, but some dogs will be discounted, due to age or exceptional needs.
