My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Axle - Courtesy Cupid

Meet Axle!
Axle is a very affectionate, energetic pup!! He is great with cats loves to kayak, walk,
and run (he is trained for it on a treadmill, next to a person and next to a bike!) His
original parents had to give him up due to their housing situation and he has been in
my care for 2 months. I am a certified dog trainer and have been working with him
everyday so he can be the perfect companion for someone!! He loves cats. He would
be wonderful in a single dog home. He loves other dogs but being that he is a puppy
yet he can annoy the other dogs. I am unsure about kids (he has not been around them
in my care). The possible parent has to be an experienced dog owner and have an
active life style. I would love to do a few training sessions with the potentl family! He
really is a wonderful dog but he still has a lot to learn and he deserved a furever
family!!!

Axle's adoption fee is $100 and he is currently in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

What is a "Courtesy Cupid"? Courtesy Cupids are beloved pets that need to be re-homed because of varied circumstances. They are living with their current families, and are not part of the Canine Cupid foster system. Due to the third party nature of these courtesy postings, Canine Cupids makes no guarantee, and claims no knowledge as to the accuracy of the information provided regarding the pet and cannot be held liable for any misrepresentation or misunderstanding between the current owner and the applicant.

Applicants must fill out an online application in order to be placed in contact with the surrendering family. Canine Cupids will only be responsible for processing the application and screening any provided references as a courtesy to the family surrendering the pet. It will then be up to the current owner and applicant to then communicate, in as much detail as requested, the animals age, health, behavior, background, schedules, eating habits, sleeping habits, play styles or anything else that may assist in making a good match between the surrendered pet and the applicant.

About Canine Cupids
Canine Cupids is a rescue in Milwaukee that is comprised of volunteers who have been fostering for various organizations and volunteering at our local animal control. Canine Cupids focuses on Milwaukee’s homeless dogs, but will always help a dog in need when we can — regardless of location.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
