Provolone's Story...
This cute little brown tabby boy was found as a stray hanging around the area of a pizza parlor in Harpers Ferry before he was rescued by 4Paws.

He likes to sit next to his Person and get lots of petting, which he will reward in purrs. When held and cuddled, he often tucks his face into the crook of his Person's elbow. He has a little scarring in his eyes from an infection when he was a kitten. An eye specialist has examined him, and the scarring does not affect his vision and does not require long-term care.

He may take a little extra time to settle into a new home, as he is curious yet cautious about new surroundings. Since he is gentle he will likely get along OK with another friendly kitty as his companion in his Forever Home. If adopted into a home with a non-dominant resident feline, they would still need to be properly introduced to ensure harmony. Helpful guidelines for this process can be found on the 4Paws website.

Provolone was born in June 2014. He has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, tested negative for FiV and FeLV, and has been micro chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Provolone, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
