My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well howdy folks!!! My name is Charlie and I am one of those beautiful umbrella cockatoos - of course I think I am the best of all of the others. I am around 9 years old, which is very young, since my breed can have a life span of 40 to 60 years. You read that right - so depending on your age I may even out live you!!

My foster Mommy tells me I'm a nut!!! Guess that means that I keep them laughing and entertained. I love to be out of my cage and want to be where the action is - wouldn't you?? I love watching my foster family watch this thing called TV - boy some of those shows are really interesting. And I also enjoy seeing them cook - maybe I will get a sample if it is good for me to eat. Just being around them makes me happy and content.

When I came into my foster home, I was only eating a seed diet. Not such a good thing for me. Now my foster Mommy has introduced me to these things called "pellets" - I actually like them.! She has also given me chop, lots of fruits, vegetable and treats. I like most everything and love to try different foods. Foster Mommy tells me that I am a great eater. YUMMY YUMMY

I was also very scared of hands did not want to step up. I loved being on top of my cage so much that I didn’t want to go back in when it was time. My foster mommy has lots of patience and now, not only do I step up, but I hang out with her on her arm while she walks around the house. I just love being handled now, I even give kisses. My new mommy and daddy will need to have lots of time and, of course, patience with me, but I promise I’m worth it.

My foster family has lots of other animals in the house. They have dogs, cats and other birds. I really don't mind having them around. In fact I don't pay much attention at all to them. My foster Mommy keeps a close eye on all of us so that nothing will happen. She knows that we all need close supervision to keep us safe. Accidents can (and do) happen very quickly, so she is always watching.

I would love to find my forever family! Please be someone who has plenty of time to spend with me as I love LOTS of attention. I would not be suitable for a condo or an apartment, so if you live in a single family home, why not come and visit and see if I would be a good fit for you and your family?!

Below is my Amazon wish list. I came to my foster Mommy with a badly rusted cage and nothing else. Please look at my wish list and see if there is something you would like to send me to keep me entertained. I sure would appreciate it and say "Thank you" in advance.

Hope to see you soon!!
