Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Clark came to NorthStar as a surrender in tough shape with a very thin coat of fur due to long term allergy issues. This is a very sweet boy who has recovered his luxurious fur and bushy tail. At 4 years old, and 103 lbs., he doesn't ask for much. Low key yet playful, Clark gets along with children, dogs and probably cats. (The foster family does not have cats.) He is well trained on a leash and loves to walk around the block. He needs just a few stairs to the backyard, as his rear legs are weak. Outdoors he wants to burrow into a saucer of dirt as Pyrs are prone to do. (The reason for the leg weakness is unknown as genetic testing and x-rays are negative for a cause.) Clark likes to spend a lot of time outside, and then come in and plop down at your feet. Clark is recovering from skin issues that have been managed with hypoallergenic Royal Canin HD dog food. He turns heads, and spreads joy wherever he goes. Clark will sleep on the first floor, as he can't climb many stairs. As fosters, we love having him around.
Clark is house trained and up to date on all vaccinations. In order to control his allergies, Clark must be kept on the Royal Canin HD food, so in this sense, he is special needs. We were told that Clark served as a medical assistance dog for his former owner, but we have no paperwork to prove that. A visible, fenced yard would be ideal for Clark for outdoor time. Clark is NOT a trained stock guardian and would be happiest in a home as an indoor family pet.
An adoption application, site visit, and adoption fee are required to adopt Clark.
