Here's what the humans have to say about me:
IZZY sooo deserves a second chance...or maybe it's her third. She was surrendered to MHS in January and was adopted very quickly. However, she was still very scared, and hid under the couch all day, coming out to eat only at night. Her adopters were worried that she would starve herself under there, so they returned her.
Izzy is a lovely brown long-haired tabby tux kitty about 4 ½ years old with a “Maine Coon” look, but she is a real “scaredy-cat”. She likes to hide in her litter box or cube, coming out occasionally to hide in someone else’s cube. She passively accepts being patted and cuddled but does not actively interact with either people or other cats. However we think she really LOVES attention but is too timid to step forward and "ask" for it. She purrs with happiness when patted!
Izzy needs some one-on-one socialization to help her get over her fears. She needs a safe room with easily accessible hidey holes (so she can only hide in plain sight), and lots of interaction with people. ONLY UNDERSTANDING, PATIENT PEOPLE NEED APPLY. Expect at least a few weeks of adjustment. Once she gets over her fears she should be a wonderful cuddlebug. She would probably also get along OK with a non-dominant resident feline friend who could help her interact more. If you have lots of love to share with a sweet, lovely, shy kitty, then come on over and meet Izzy.
