My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It got scarily close to Devon's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Devon was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Devon's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging puppy ever since.

Devon, at 14 - 16 weeks old and 13 lbs (estimated to be approximately 32 - 35 lbs when full grown) is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Devon is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Devon with a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids. Active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving puppy would be great as well. Any family that chooses to adopt a Cattle Dog puppy needs to be aware that these dogs are both extremely smart and loving as well as very energetic. This being the case..they require exercise and boundaries. It makes a noticeable difference if these puppies are given the benefit of positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by group obedience classes. We are happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area.

Devon will be a very family-oriented puppy if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-minded canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Devon than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats.

Devon can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance puppy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Devon is with his rescuer in New Mexico being taught some basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Devon may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy and very loving self.

Devon is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing…. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous blue merle markings that speak of his breed. Devon will require a commitment to periodic baths and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and cottony-soft.

Devon is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Devon is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Devon to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Devon will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 7/29/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving puppy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
