My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is BJ. He is a purebred adult neutered male Rottweiler. BJ's owner had to surrender him when he had to move into a veteran's home and they would not allow him to have his big boy with him. BJ is currently available for adoption at the Contra Costa Animal shelter in Martinez.

Notes on BJ from his previous owner state that BJ loves to play ball. The shelter noted that BJ is a little over weight and recommends walks and low level exercise to build back strength. The shelter recommends an all adult household; no kids. Notes also say BJ is good with some dogs; but not good with cats.

BJ was scared when he first came into the shelter, but, he has warmed up with the staff. The staff says he is fairly social and once he knows you, likes a good butt rub.

This is what a staff member recently said about BJ:
I also had a chance to get better acquainted with BJ when he I took him out a few times. Volunteers have taken him out a few times and had good things to say about him. He walks well on a leash, is easily re-directed when he gets distracted, and does not react much to other dogs, big or small. With small dogs he would consistently come over for a sniff and walk away. When big dogs were walking by he barely noticed them or barked as if he wanted to play but would stop as soon as the other dog was out of sight.
The owner filled out a 2 page letter and pet profile to say likes and dislikes of BJ to help him find a good home.

If you are interested in giving BJ a second chance in life and meeting this handsome Rottie boy, please go to see him at the Contra Costa shelter in Martinez. You can refer to his ID# A771512.
