Kimmy's Story...
DOB 5-9-17 Introducing our Full House Litter!
Taking applications, but not available until weekend of August 5th.
An amazing foster and her husband found out about a litter of puppies in desperate need of rescue, before they given to the kill shelter. The owner no longer wanted them, nor could afford to keep feeding them. So, they hopped in the car and drove to Arkansas to save these adorable pups!! They are now all healthy and looking for their forever home. Mom was a boxer/lab mix, and we believe the dad was a Vizsla mix.
Their foster mom says they all LOVE attention! They are currently living with 2 older dogs, a Beagle and Yorkie, cats, and 2 children 2.5 and 9 years old. These pups get along with everyone.
They have started housebreaking, but will need someone home most of the day to continue their training and socialization. Previous puppy experience is a preferred.

Kimmy weighs 5 lbs. If you have ever seen the show, Kimmy Gibbler lives up to her name! She loves to try to get into places she shouldn't and usually is successful. She has an active disposition, and a love for eating Kimmy is a little love bug, loves to snuggle and give kisses. She has beautiful front white legs which stand out against her brown coat.

Thank you for your interest in adopting!

A Journey Home is a 501c3, all foster/volunteer based rescue. Our rescues are living with families in their homes. We do not have a shelter.
If you are interested in adopting, please email to request an application. After your application has been received and given a preliminary approval, you will be contacted by an adoption coordinator who will conduct a phone interview. Final approval will be granted following a successful meet and greet with the entire family. Adopter must be at least 21 yrs old.

A Journey Home does not do out-of-state adoptions on unaltered puppies. Spay/neuter surgery is not done on puppies under 6 months of age.
If adopting a puppy under the age of 6 months, we require that the adopter schedules the spay/neuter at our participating vet clinic when age appropriate.

Our standard adoption fee is $300, payable by cash or check. The fee includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, a free vet visit at one of our participating clinics, and micro-chipping.

First time pet owners will be required to sign up for a puppy/training class at a place of their choice. There will be an additional $50 added to your adoption fee, which will be refunded to you upon proof the class was completed.

Please note that breed and size are our best guesses, while ages are estimated by our vets and are not guaranteed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kimmy, a South Elgin Boxer/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer/Labrador Retriever for sale in South Elgin, or seeking a Boxer/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in South Elgin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Elgin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Elgin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Boxer/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Elgin paves the way for another one to be saved.
