The time has come and our beautiful boy Hero is ready to begin the search for his forever home! Hero is an amazing boy! 5 yrs old and all up to date on vetting. Hero's features include:
- He LOVES to snuggle and wants to be your side kick. When we say snuggle... with Hero - he could quite possibly be the world’s greatest snuggler. - He’s also a DREAM on a leash. He is so easy to take for a stroll.
- He LOVES going to the LAKE!!! - He is so GRATEFUL for all his new toys and enjoys shaking the life out of them. Playing tug is one of his favorite past times! -Hero is GREAT with Kids!
- He is GOOFY and will make you giggle! - No anxiety, loves the crate and completely HOUSEBROKEN! His foster family remarks that he is the kind of dog that doesn’t need to be crated when you leave, he’s very trustworthy!
This amazing boy is looking for a perfect home he can have all to himself as the only animal in the home. Hero doesn’t want to share you with other dogs or kitties! 😊 Is Hero the right fit for you?

Hero has come a long way. His eyes are healing well and he is recovering well from his other procedures. We will keep everyone posted on his progress. At this rate, he will be available to adopt soon!
*** MEDICAL HOLD ***
Meet Hero, our newest addition to Boxer Haven Rescue. He may look familiar to you. Hero was previously adopted from a shelter. Due to some ongoing medical needs, Boxer Haven Rescue was asked to help provide a home and to continue the medical attention this beautiful boy needs. We are so happy he is with us! He has already been seen by our veterinarians and there are several medical conditions we will help Hero with.
Hero has has a rectal hernia, which we plan to surgically repair. He also has a lump on his head that will be removed and biopsied. He has been started on antibiotics to get him ready for the multiple procedures to be done all at the same time including his neuter. As you can see, Hero also has a lingering eye infection in his right eye and an active ulceration in his left. Eye ulcers, scratches, tears in the cornea are common in boxers so we are hopeful his eyes will heal, but we are unsure if there will be permanent vision loss. We will continue to monitor his health closely and he has a follow-up vet appointment on Monday. We got a lot accomplished on day 1 and have a plan in place! Despite all the testing and poking and prodding this boy went through today..... he is the biggest sweetheart and is handling it all like the champ that he is! Welcome HERO to the rescue!
