My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Simpson is one adorable terrier/wheaten mix. He is approx 4 yrs old and 16 lbs. He has a really sweet disposition and personality. He gets along with all of the other dogs,is well behaved, loves people, and just make himself at home. He does well on a leash and seems to be pretty well house trained. He did test positive for heartworms when we he joined our rescue and has been treated with the required series of injections, and we have also started him on monthly heartguard as a preventative and we require that our dogs stay on it monthly for life.. We require a home with older children.

The total adoption donation of $525 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
