Ralphie is being fostered in Linden, VA. His adoption fee is $300, and he is 3 years old, with a birth date of December 7, 2013. Ralphie weighs about 9 pounds and is a black Affenpinscher mix with natural ears and tail. Ralphie is just full of mellow energy and high velocity love and affection.

Ralph is a people pleaser and will do his best to whatever he thinks you want him to do. He is exceptionally intelligent and a very fast learner. He is an absolutely great companion dog and could excel at whatever he put his mind to do.

It is clear that his life on the streets gave him a very difficult past, but he has overcome that with the love and patience in his foster home. He has come a long way. His fosters believe his potential is unlimited. He sleeps in the bed, is completely housebroken, and makes a wonderful member of the the family. He gets depressed when he is crated, and hates it. He needs a family who has experience with dog behavior who understand that Ralphie is unique and does not follow the typical pattern.

In his foster home, there are 10 dogs, and he has taken a no toleration attitude toward two of the males in the home. Therefore, we will only place him in a home as the only dog or one female dog of comparable size, with no males and no children. Ralphie does like to run the show. He has a huge personality and intelligence and is extremely obedient.

He loves to play with toys and loves to fetch his toys when tossed, and he loves to run outside, so a securely fenced yard is a must.. His favorite thing in the world is to sit in your lap, but he is not invasive. If he does become overly affectionate, he will obey when asked to stop. He loves to go for walks and on adventures. Riding in the car to the park or pet store is a real treat for him.

Ralphie is up to date on all his shots, and is microchipped and neutered. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea medication. He has been vet checked and is very healthy.

Please read the information in Ralph's bio carefully, as it was written with his best interests in mind. If you feel your home meets his needs, please see the note at the top of this page to receive an application. Someone will be in touch with you by phone or email once it is received, and will explain the adoption process to you. He has a lot of personality and is definitely ready to give some lovin'. Thank you for your interest in Ralphie. If you have any other questions, please let me know. His adopter must drive or fly to pick him up. We do not fly our rescues in cargo. We do not adopt to homes with underground or electric fences.

About American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance, Inc

About Our Rescue Group...

ABGRA (American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance) & AAR (American Affenpinscher Rescue) is a non-profit national rescue group founded to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers. We strive to leave no Griff or Affen behind and rescue these breeds from commercial breeding facilities and city/county shelters when foster home space is available. We also accept owner surrendered Griffs and Affens. We are an all foster home based rescue that provides complete vetting for our dogs prior to adoption.

American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance Inc. (ABGRA) and American Affenpinscher Rescue (AAR) came into being to meet the needs of the Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers who are abandoned, might be abandoned, or whose circumstances we can improve.
We are especially mindful of the Griffs and Affens that have spent their lives in commercial breeding facilities and who will have a chance at a better life through our efforts. We also rescue both breeds from animal shelters and accept owner surrendered Griffs and Affens.
ABGRA, & our subsidiary AAR, is a non-profit national rescue group.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All adoptions go through our website-
We do not have a kennel facility and place all of our Griffons and Affens by application. All of our rescued dogs are living in foster homes where public viewing is not possible.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption donations are from $200 - $350 and reflect the vetting costs incured for each dog as well as some dogs whose costs far exceed the donation.
We interview all references provided and require a home visit before placements. An adoption contract is required. If the dog is returned within 30 days, a refund will be issued. ABGRA requires adopters be 25 years old, or older, and are looking for stable permanent adoptors. In most cases, these breeds are not recommened for families with young children or for people who are not home for long periods of time. They are the perfect pet for someone who can take their dog to work with them, work from home, or are retired.
