My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

UPDATE 10/31/2017 :  We are delighted to share that Raven has successfully completed her treatment for heart worms and is ready to move into her forever home.  Her foster says she will do best in a home with another dog ......and while she occasionally seeks out her humans for attention and a belly rub, she is still rather aloof and independent.  This could change over time but is understandable because we think she was alone on the streets for a long time. Raven seems to ignore the cats she has met but has never lived with any .

We sincerely thank all of you who donated to Raven's veterinary expenses .

ASR was contacted by a good samaritan who had seen an emaciated German Shepherd wandering in her neighborhood. This kind lady was able to capture the dog and we agreed to rescue the dog, once she had been cleared by the local shelter ( just in case her people were looking for her). She appeared to have had puppies recently so it's possible she was abandoned after her puppies were weaned.

Unfortunately, Raven had not been well cared for and we were advised Raven was heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment is both costly ( approximately $1100 ) and time consuming ( average about 90 days ) but neither ASR nor our foster hesitated after the heartworm diagnosis.

Initially a bit skittish after wandering the streets , Raven is starting to blossom and will begin treatment for heartworm soon.  Including the 30 days of antibiotics required prior to the actual heartworm treatment, Raven's anticipated medical costs will be about $1125. If you would like to donate to Raven's heartworm treatment , your donation will be greatly appreciated.

Donations can be made via PayPal ( note Raven) or via check.
