Facts about Margo Fostered in Minneapolis

  • Breed: Border Collie/Cattle Dog Mix
  • Color: White - With Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Margo is about 3 years old and weighs 50 lbs. Margo came to us with her 5 puppies when the family was discovered by a concerned person, Margo is a survivor. Margo had been shot twice and still bears the evidence of bullets in her front leg, back leg and abdomen. Her back leg healed and is supporting her weight without pain. After consulting with orthopedic specialist, it has been determined that Margo would be in less pain if her front let was amputated and her surgery is scheduled for 8/11. Margo is a sweet, loving, quiet dignified lady who loves to lay in the yard, chase the occasional squirrel and nap in the sunshine. Margo loves to go places and meet people. She also likes to chill with her foster family at the end of the day. Margo loves to play with other dogs and her people! She is such a great dog! Margo's forever family is out there somewhere and she is waiting patiently. Margo requires a physically fenced yard and can live with kids 10+.

To adopt Margo fill out an application on our website at hoabcr.org

About Heart of a Border Collie Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of volunteers committed to rescuing Border Collies and Border Collie mixes. We are concerned about Border Collies having a safe place to go where they will be properly evaluated, housed and cared for while awaiting their forever homes.

We are also committed to partnering with other Border Collie and herding breed rescues so we can all work collaboratively to provide a safe place for dogs in need.

There are no paid positions and all volunteers do this work for the love of the breed. All dogs live in foster homes, in the house with their families. We do not pay ANY volunteers, including board members, for boarding and care. ALL donations go DIRECTLY to the care of the dogs. We are always looking to welcome like-minded fosters and other volunteers to partner with us and bring new ideas and initiatives.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Check our Facebook page for upcoming meet & greet dates and locations.

Individual meetings with our foster dogs will be set up only after applications are processed and approved. This is done to respect the time of our foster homes who are already providing a 24 hour volunteer service.

Our Adoption Process...

All adopters will need to fill out an application to adopt and provide 2 personal references and a veterinarian reference. After references are contacted, if the board feels the dog is a good fit, a meet and greet will be scheduled. If that goes well, a home visit will be scheduled and the adoption can proceed.

Adopters must sign an adoption contract and will pay a fee $350 + MN tax for puppies under 6 months old or $300 + MN tax for dogs 6 months +.

Most dogs will require a physically fenced yard. Other requirements will be listed in the dog's individual bios. No dogs will be adopted as outside dogs. Dogs must live in the home with their families and be incorporated into daily life. Border Collies require an extraordinary amount of physical and mental exercise. Please be specific about how you plan to keep your border collie active and engaged.
