Dana's Story...
Meet Dana! Dana is new here, so our caretakers are still learning about her personality. She is around 2-years-old, currently weighs 41lbs and was transferred from another shelter. She walks great on leash, but gets nervous around other dogs or lots of commotion. Once she gets moving, she's fabulous and super sweet! At this time, we are not yet sure how they are with other dogs, cats or kids. As we get to know them, we will let you know. Spend time with her today to find out more!

Dana is temporarily unavailable as she awaits her spay surgery, but is still able to have applications submitted once you've met. For more information or inquires about meeting Dana, please give us a call at (302) 571-0111 or visit us at our center (701 A Street Wilmington, DE) Tuesday-Friday 12-7pm or Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dana, a Wilmington Mixed Breed (Medium)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mixed Breed (Medium)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Mixed Breed (Medium)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mixed Breed (Medium)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Mixed Breed (Medium)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
