Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miro: ~12-year-old male black Lab 60 lbs
Experienced Lab seeking new forever home. Been there. Done that. Willing to leverage wealth of experience and wisdom to help human caretakers navigate the challenges of life. Have forgotten more commands than most dogs ever learn. Early riser (after uninterrupted night of sleep). Qualifications include crate-trained, house-trained, fetching (both sticks and balls). Strong work ethic; focused stick chewer; relentless walker. Welcome opportunity to supervise and mentor younger, inexperienced dogs. Open to relocation to any home in northern California. Personal massage therapist preferred, but not required. Willing to negotiate benefits.
What Miro’s foster says:
A warm bath, a few nice meals, and a full night sleep… has put this guy on a fabulous trajectory towards his new life. The simple things in life are so appreciated by this great guy… a nice walk around the neighborhood, a nice bed to sleep on, a nice hand to scratch his chin, a nice knee to lean against, a nice lap to rub his head in.
What Miro’s Rescue Rep says:
Abandoned at an animal rescue in Point Richmond, Miro (pronounced mih-roh) joined Lab Rescue after a short stint at the county animal shelter. He is microchipped, and current on his vaccinations, but not yet neutered. He is quite a bit underweight and is currently packing on some quality pounds. Miro just saw our vet and is now on antibiotics and medicated shampoo to resolve his skin condition. Neutering is a few weeks away. Miro is located in Berkeley… where he is teaching an upper-level course on Social Justice and Animal Welfare.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
