My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for the most devoted companion on this planet, look no further because you will never find another like Champ! This boy is a neutered Boxer mix who is approximately 8 years of age and weighs a solid 70 pounds.

Champ and his biological father were surrendered to the county (high kill) facility when his owner was diagnosis-ed with cancer. Sadly Champ's biological father was euthanized and Champ sat alone at the county for five months before we rescued him. Since then, we have never looked back nor have we had one regret taking him in.

This soulful boy would make a fabulous emotional support companion. Champ is so cooperative in anything you ask of him because he continually aims to please. Just look into his eyes and he will melt your heart. He will greet you by tucking his head in his chest while silently asking for your approval and affection. He is very well mannered and knows SIT, WAIT, DOWN and SHAKE. Show him a treat and you will definitely have his full attention!

Champ walks beautifully on lead and enjoys leisurely walks up to two miles at one time. He LOVES car rides where he sits quietly while taking in the sights. Champ is still very much active where he enjoys showing off on the agility equipment, scaling platforms and ramps with ease. Champ's favorite toys are large non-destructive squeaky balls and playing fetch. When he's not outside, Champ is content to curl up on his bed and occupy himself with a deer antler chew. Champ is 150% housebroken and can hold himself up to 14+ hours, though we don't expect him to!

At this phase of his life, Champ would prefer to be your one and only but he can easily exist with smaller "no fuss" female dogs. All this boy wants is a home to call his own. He is easy-going and loves to hang out with homebodies. He will do well in an adult only home where he could be the pampered pooch that he deserves to be. Champ would make the perfect buddy for someone wanting a companion without a lot of work.... he's a very easy dog to have around. Ask him to cuddle and he's all yours! Once committed, Champ will guard and protect those he cherishes.

Champ has been completely vetted, current on all vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella), Heartworm & Tick Borne Disease negative, parasite free and current on monthly preventatives. We did a complete Senior Blood Panel on Champ and the results only indicated a slight elevation (above normal range) on his cholesterol level which is being managed through his diet and flax seed oil.

We believe there is the right home out there for every dog and then one comes along and it will exceed our wildest imagination. We know the perfect family is waiting for Champ. If you want to open your home and heart to this deserving boy, please submit an online application at www.FarleyFoundationNC.com/adopt/ or call Betsy Ficarro at 910-315-9569 or email directly at Adopt4leggeds@aol.com.

Thank you for wanting to rescue a homeless dog in need and for saving lives.
