My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Bobby! My foster family calls me Bob though. I am a 4 month old Collie/Spaniel/Retriever mix. I have been neutered, micro chipped and my first year shots are all done. I come from a litter of 4 and have been at Hopeful Tails since I was about 12 weeks old. The great people at Hopeful Tails thought I would do much better in a foster home with a loving family since I got scared all the time and have a hard time trusting people. Boy, did they make a good choice! For the past couple of weeks I’ve been living with a great family that have really helped me not be so scared, about everything.

My foster family has a Dad, he plays with me all the time. I really love tug of war! We play fetch too, sometimes I get distracted and forget to “bring it back” but I’m working on it. He tells me how lucky I am that I don’t have black spots, otherwise Cruella Deville would want me for a coat since I’m so soft!

There’s a 12 year old girl who takes care of me everyday after school. She is really sweet and gentle with me so I know I can trust her. She takes me for a walk to school everyday and makes me meet new people. She calls me a chicken nugget because I’m little.

Being with the foster family helped me realize that I really like kids! They have a 10 year old girl too, boy does she make me work for treats! She makes me sit, stay, give paw, dance and other stuff but she makes it fun and I really like the treats and the attention. She’s not so happy that I’m teething right now and sometimes I play too rough. I forget that she’s not a dog and it hurts when I use my mouth when we play.

Finally there’s a Mom, I really like to cuddle with her, she makes me feel safe and loved. I like to hide behind her until I feel brave enough to meet people and dogs too. She makes me work hard too, I can’t jump up on her when she’s trying to feed me, she won’t pet me unless all of my feet are on the floor, she won’t let me leave the house or the car until she tells me it’s ok and worst of all the rules is that I have to go potty outside! She has a lot of rules, I remember most of them but I am still a puppy so I do forget sometimes. That’s when she tells me that it’s a good thing I’m cute!

They all say I’m probably ready to start looking for my forever family. I hope that I can find a family that has a fenced in yard. I have a lot of puppy energy still. I hope they will be really patient and gentle with me since I still get scared sometimes. I would be happiest right now being the only dog in the house since dogs really scare me still. I talk a big game but I’m not ready to live with one yet.
If you think you might be my family, just contact Hopeful Tails and they will schedule an appointment with me so we can meet!

Bobby's adoption fee is $400 which includes his neuter, microchip implant, fecal exam, and shots up to date.

As we are a rescue all of our adult dogs/puppies for adoption must be spayed or neutered. Although we make every attempt to have this done before finding their adoptive families, this is not always possible. Please speak with your adoption coordinator to see of this service has already been performed or they will explain to you if your new dog/puppy will need this service while in your care at no cost to you.

When emailing please include your phone number to help speed up the adoption process. Also, for the safety of our dogs we only adopt within a 2 hour radius of Joliet, Illinois, to allow our volunteers to do home checks if necessary.
